Poised to be the next one stop for entertainment and food, On The 6th is made up of 4 different areas for you to explore and wind down after work.
They are K-Net – a family oriented karaoke, Divine – a restaurant that serves up Western and Asian delights, Skyline – an outdoor lounge blessed with a view of the city skyline and Versus – a game simulator area that will feature Malaysia’s first Virtuix Omni for virtual reality games.
However, K-Net was still under renovation while Versus only had electronic dart boards installed when I was there over the last weekend. So you could expect only Divine and Skyline to be fully operational for the time being. That said, I still recommend you to drop by just to check the place out if you happen to be in the Quill City Mall or working nearby.
The first thing we noticed about the place is the spaciousness that allows many people to move around freely. There is also a large center stage which is great for various events such as product launching, media conference and parties.
There’s also a smoke free VIP area upstairs where you could enjoy a top-down view of the activities in the restaurant.
Thanks to the management, I had the privilege of sampling some of the food available at Divine – the full fledged restaurant I mentioned earlier that serves both Western and Asian cuisine.
The extensive menu features something for everyone that includes a good selection of salad, pasta, pizza, mains and desserts. As far as main courses are concerned, they are reasonably priced while the rest are pretty average compared to the other restaurants with similar atmosphere.
We sampled two out of three soups they were offering – Athens Pomodoro Seafood Soup @ RM14 and Truffle Wild Mushroom Soup @ RM13. The flavour of the seafood soup was not bad but the quality of the seafood was not great.
The mushroom soup on the other hand, is well-made, prepared thick and rich with a good amount of mushroom bits that you could taste – it did not disappoint at all.
Among the dozen of appetizers available, Georgious’s Kofta @ RM13 came highly recommended and it’s not hard to see why. These grilled medallions of lamb were nicely marinated with herbs for a flavourful bite. Not to mention the homemade garlic peri-peri dipping sauce that was truly spicy and really went well with the kofta. The only gripe I have about this was that the portion could be larger, because it’s really quite delicious!
If you’re a lamb shank lover, Divine’s On The 6th Lamb Shank @ RM48 is not only a bang for your buck, it’s well worth a try as well for being fork-tender and succulent with a wonderful flavour. Personally, I like that they did not drench it with too much sauce, but just the right amount to coat the lamb well.
The other main we tried that I would also recommend is the Honey Jalapeno Back Ribs @ RM50. This back ribs right here has got to be one of the most tender I’ve had recently – the meat simply slips off the bone effortlessly. So despite smaller than expected for the price, I am sure the taste will make up for it.
Even if you don’t take alcohol, that doesn’t stop you from having a good time here. A 6 Series Mocktail @ RM22 is not only affordable, it’s also perfect for sharing with a friend or two. Like the name says, you get 6 types of mocktails – all made from Giffard’s non alcoholic syrups. They are the Pink Rose, Giffard Potion, Elder Collins, Summer Gold, Oriental Sunset and Spring Forest.
After having your meal, you may want to move on to Skyline where you could continue your conversation at the outdoor lounge. Come in the evenings to watch the city’s skyline transition into night.
From here you have an unobstructed view of the KL tower as well as the busy road of Jalan Sultan Ismail under the colour-changing roof. The street is quite empty in the photo because this was captured during the KL City Grand Prix which just ended recently.
All in all, if you are looking for a new, cool and proper hangout place to chill with friends, On The 6th should be on your list to consider. The music is not too loud so you can have a decent conversation while dining.
Even though the food is not top notch but at least it’s above average, affordable and with plenty of choices. And lastly, if you are coming here, I suggest you to take the lift located near the concierge at the ground floor for easier (and safer) access.
