As the name implies, Lorong Selamat is a street in Penang Island that has a lot of good food to offer (although I am not very sure whether it is really that selamat or not :P) I am neither familiar with Penang roads nor good at giving directions. To reach this place, just follow the road to Komtar and you will come across Macallister Road. Lorong Selamat is only 2-3 streets away from it.
The coffee shop is small but always packed with people. It has a traditional feel to it due to the tables being used. This lady clad in pink and wearing a cap shown in the photo below is very friendly with the customers :)
One of the must try in Lorong Selamat is their Ais Kacang. It is different from any other ABC because of its Sarsi flavored syrup and atapchi. It is very rare to see atapchi in ABC already nowadays. Anyway if you have the time, do walk accross the street to Lorong Swatow, which also features kick-ass ABC. The main difference is the amount of ingredients being served, Lorong Selamat’s ABC tends to be more stingy in this :P
The curry mee sold here is also good, RM2.50 a bowl. This was our lunch last Sunday before Siang Leng and I went to watch X-men 3 in Gurney Plaza.
hey,
i went to this place twice with my bm frens but the 2 times aso i din get to taste the charkoaytiau! 1st n 2nd time i went there too early…her stall not yet open..apala!aih..really no luck to eat her ckt! but nayway, i believe that bm ckt is aso still counted the best!!!!
[…] RM2.00. If you compare this with the one sold in Lorong Selamat (can be found in my earlier post here) you will definitely notice the difference in the quantity of ingredients being served as I said […]
[…] definitely tastes better with ice cream. Another two ice kacang I could recommend are Kek Seng and Lorong Selamat. I am not sure if they are still that tasty though.. gotta find out myself one day. Anyone reading […]
