** THIS RESTAURANT HAS BEEN REPLACED BY ANOTHER KOREAN RESTAURANT **

Among the 4 restaurants that recently opened at Plaza Menjalara, I consider Gyeong Bok Gung to be the best. From the name you should probably know that it is a Korean restaurant. Korean BBQ is their specialty but the menu also features a fair selection of familiar Korean dishes so you are not really limited to eating BBQ only.

Side-Dishes

The Banchan (side dishes) here might not be as elaborate as you expect it to be, but at least they taste good. We finished everything except for the kimchi which was left untouched the entire meal. Yeah, we are still unable to accept the taste of kimchi.

Steamed-Egg

Steamed egg is also part of the Banchan, not sure if it could be refilled because we were always too stuffed for seconds.

Raw-BBQ-Pork

We only tried the pork in our visits so far and we feel the Korean Spicy Pork is the tastiest, followed by the House Marinated Pork Ribs (Dwaeji Galbi, RM28) and pork neck slices (Dwaeji Mok Sal, RM25)

Korean-Barbecue

The staff is also smart enough to cook the least marinated meat first, so that the flavor will not be overshadowed by other stronger tasting meat. Additional condiments for the Korean BBQ include chopped chili, spicy sauce, garlic, barbecued onions and mushrooms. All of these come together nicely to add a new level of complexity and depth to an otherwise simple tasting lettuce-wrapped-meat.

Grilled-Mackarel

Grilled Mackerel with rice @ RM18 (lunch hour price) I feel this dish is really worthy of the price as you get half a fish and the portion could be easily shared between two. Not to mention the fish is fresh and delicious as well.

Bulgogi

A staple at any Korean restaurant, I can only describe the Beef Bulgogi @ RM18 here as awesome. The well-marinated beef strips are thinly sliced, tender and full of flavor – so appetizing when eaten with rice.

I am just really glad that Gyeong Bok Gung decided to open so near to my house. We don’t have to go to Sri Hartamas or Mon’t Kiara for our Korean food fix anymore.

  1. Long time never been to that side of Kepong, didn’t know that there’s so many restaurants now. Those pork servings does look good. Now is to convince my in-laws to eat there.

  2. If you love korean food you gotta try Seoul Korea which is located in Taman Desa :) ban chan there.. lots of variety and its good ^_^ But do not order their BBQ’s

  3. The ventilation is very bad…is such like a drain smell …so disgusting…
and the worst part is they print the receipt in korean language with 6% gst with gst id and use hand writing to charge additional gst….and simply charge service charge with different receipt name called chung wa dae…they a really not honestly in doin business, we really felt dissapointed
