This is the Hennessy XO Seafood Noodle in Kepong that went viral in Facebook recently. Since the stall is only 10 minutes away from my house, there’s no reason not to try it. When we came around 12pm last month, the noodles were already sold out.
This time, we dragged our butts here at 9am to avoid dissapointment. Waiting time was reasonable and I think the viral-ness has died down a bit since we got our food pretty fast. In fact, most of the customers were seen queuing for Black Man Nasi Lemak.
Simply put, the XO Seafood Noodle is a modified version of the fish head noodle by adding a few drops of cognac into the soup. However, you don’t get to choose the type of noodle so you are basically stuck with rice vermicelli – a uniquely springy one that is.
For RM15 a bowl, you can’t really complain about the amount of seafood you get. Besides the huge Ming prawn and a big slice of cuttlefish, you also get..
Some scallops.
And fresh, plump and juicy lala, lots of it too. Overall, the soup is delicious and the addition of cognac, albeit as little as it seems (not as much as what we saw on Facebook) adds a powerful and distinct aroma to the flavor. That said, if you are not accustomed to the taste of cognac, you might find it a tad strong to handle.
So for those who prefer something more familiar, the Hua Diao Lala Noodle should be a better fit. As long as you enjoy ‘Xiong Tong La La’ you will definitely like this as well. Just imagine eating ‘Xiong Tong La La’ with noodle thrown in, because that’s exactly what it is.

A portion costs RM10 and I feel the price is justified. It has even more lala than the XO Seafood Noodle. If I were to return, I’d probably order this over the XO Seafood Noodle, but mainly because I don’t really know how to appreciate cognac.
