One of the most satisfying meals we had recently was at Hong Hong Chicken Rice restaurant. It is located in Desa Aman Puri, Kepong and Ipoh style bean sprout chicken rice and koay teow are their signature dishes.
You have a choice of farmed or free range chicken. The latter has a tougher and chewy but more flavorful meat because of all the exercise it gets from roaming around freely. But if your palate prefers a tender bite, opt for the normal chicken instead.
The poached chicken is well-cooked without traces of blood, a relieving sight for those who couldn’t stand under-cooked poultry. That’s me included.

Bean sprouts is optional here but it comes highly recommended. Other side dishes include fish or pork meat balls and steamed tofu. We had the pork meat balls which tasted great with a nice bouncy texture.
The soup was memorable too, as it was sweet with a hint of herbal fragrance that made it stand out from most other chicken soups.
And of course, what’s a chicken rice meal without chili sauce and ginger dip? Both are equally well done here and definitely necessary to complete the experience.
