No offense to people who love Huang Chang Chicken Rice and willing to queue for it, but personally I think it’s terrible. In fact, the worst chicken rice I have ever had in Melaka.
From what I understand, many people recommend this place because it’s cheaper than the rest. But cheaper does not mean a lot here because it’s not like you can eat and get out in a jiffy. The restaurant is stuffy too and definitely not comfortable for families with kids.
The chicken was tough and dry while the rice balls were mushy and tasteless. So if you have been recommended to try this place, I say forget about it.
It’s simply not worth your time and there are many other better chicken rice to eat in Melaka. Even those touristy ones around Jonker Walk taste a whole lot better. But of course, what I said is only applicable if we share generally the same taste in food.
I also pity the Singaporeans who came all the way here just to eat this because any Tom, Dick or Harry chicken rice stall there can beat this hands down.
