The Humble Chef – RM5 Spaghetti @ Bukit Damansara

The Humble Chef is a restaurant that made its name for serving RM5 spaghetti and various other cheap eats. It actually started off as a food truck business and they used to ply in Damansara Heights area.

Humble Chef Spaghetti Alio Olio

The Humble Chef serves pretty much every spaghetti there is, from Bolognese to Alio Olio, Pesto and Carbonara. All of them are priced at RM5 for a standard portion and you get to choose the toppings such as prawn, chicken, beef or lamb. I think you are able to order double portion if you need a more filling meal.

Humble Chef Fried Laksa Prawn

They also have fried laksa at RM5 too and personally, I think this would be more worth-recommending compared to the spaghetti. If you are wondering, the laksa they are referring to is assam laksa and not curry laksa. So you can expect to see thick chewy noodles fried in a savory sweet and spicy sauce, accompanied with bell peppers and the meat or seafood of your choice. It’s pretty good actually if you can get past the kiddy presentation.

Humble Chef Mushroom Soup

Mushroom soup is also RM5 and it comes with a pair of garlic bread. I think the mushroom soup could be a lot better because it was kind of diluted; albeit not as diluted as those you get at Pizza Hut. That said, it’s definitely home made and not poured out of the can.

Humble Chef Chicken Sandwich

A couple of sandwiches are available at RM2.50 each. Frankly speaking, the chicken sandwich doesn’t look appetizing at all but I guess that goes to all of the food here. But as far as taste is concerned, it’s decent enough as a snack.

Humble Chef Peanut Butter Pudding

Two desserts are offered here: Peanut Butter Bread Pudding and Chocolate Brownie. We opted for the former and it was a nice end to conclude the meal.

Humble Chef Western Food Restaurant

Perhaps another way to describe the Humble Chef’s food is that it’s the kind you’d cook when you got hungry in the middle of the night, then raided the fridge for whatever you could find to fix a quick meal.
Will it taste good? Maybe, but it’s definitely not gonna suck. Lastly, I think anyone who can handle a wok or pan could cook better food than what you get here. And therein lies the irony – we are too lazy to do that.
