Pisco Bar Bukit Bintang

Bukit Bintang is not short of bars and all of them are doing fairly well. Based on our observation, Pisco Bar seems to the busiest and packed with a good mix of expats, travelers and locals who work in the vicinity. The reviews of their food we read online are extremely positive too, and that is always an assuring sign.

Pisco Bar Seabass Ceviche with Chips

If you can only order one dish here, get the cebiche. Also known as ceviche, it basically consists of raw fresh seafood marinated in lime juice and usually with onions and chili peppers as well.
As the seafood absorbs the marinade, it undergoes a denaturation process and turns an opaque color. In other words, the seafood gets ‘cooked’ by the citrus juice.

Pisco Bar Pargo Seabass Ceviche

Here, ceviche is offered in three kinds of seafood: tuna, snapper or prawn. It is also available in a tasting platter which is perfect for sharing. We had a large serving of Pargo (snapper ceviche) @ RM36 with a saucy marinade that had an interesting name: mochero chili tiger’s milk.
Why tiger’s milk? Because of its milky appearance and reputation as an aphrodisiac. The aphrodisaic property is up for debate, but simply irrelevant when it tastes so good.

Pisco Bar Assorted Tapas

As usual, the Assorted Tapas @ RM68 is always a great choice to sample some of their extensive tapas menu. The platter is meant for two and includes Chopitos (deep fried baby squids), Pisco Parmigiana (sliced aubergine, layered with cheese and tomato sauce), Croquetas (creamy mushroom croquettes), grilled chicken skewer and Chorizo lollipop. Among all, our favorites had to be the Chopitos and Pisco Parmigiana.

Pisco Bar Spanish Pork Ribs with Potatoes and Chorizo Sauce

We really wanted to try the Spanish Paella, but dropped the idea because it had to be cooked fresh upon order and requires an hour to prepare. So we opted for the Spanish Pork Ribs with Potatos and Chorizo Sauce @ RM42.
Overall it felt like a homey dish and the chorizo’s savory flavor is the perfect match to pan fried potatoes. We gladly mopped up any remaining sauces and chorizo bits with the bread.

Pisco Bar Homemade Apple Tart

For dessert we picked the Apple Tart @ RM18, which may seem boring but it was seriously good and well worth the wait.

Pisco Sour Cocktail
Chile Passion Martini

While you are here, don’t leave without trying the Pisco Sour cocktail @ RM36. Being smooth and extremely easy to drink, it’s suitable even for non drinker. But if you like something with a kick, you won’t go wrong with the Chile Passion Martini @ RM34. It’s a wonderful mix that has a nice passion fruit taste, aromatic lemongrass with a bit of spiciness.
