Word has it that you can find one of the best tasting pork noodles in Pudu. The pork noodle stall is operating in Yuyi coffee shop and a minimum wait of 30 minutes is to be anticipated. If you’re a pork noodle lover, I can assure you that the wait is worth it.
The main reason for the wait is because the noodles are individually cooked to order and there’s easily a backlog of 20-30 bowls at any time. First thing that you’d notice about the pork noodles here is the slightly milky white broth as opposed to the usual clear ones you get elsewhere.
It is simply a result of slow boiling down huge amount of pork bones which are rich in collagen and fat. It has a naturally sweet flavor without feeling artificial and most importantly, doesn’t reek of pork.
While the soup is on point, for me, the real stars of the dish are the meat toppings. I didn’t fancy having offal that morning so I had mine with minced meat and pork slices only.
I think they had been specially processed and seasoned, so they taste so clean yet sweet and tender. It almost felt like eating candies made out of meat – really addictive stuff.
Overall, I’d say that this is the best pork noodles I have ever had in KL in the last 8 years or so. I don’t know why it took me so long just to discover this place considering I am a regular to Pudu, but I am sure glad that I did.
Besides the wait time, another thing you need to be mindful is that the seller does not have fixed off days. From what I was told, he’d rest and not work whenever he feels uncomfortable. I have heard stories about people not able to try his noodles because of that, so plan your visits in the weekends to (better) avoid disappointments.
