Chatime franchisor decided to terminate the franchise in Malaysia, so all Chatime Malaysia‘s outlets have been rebranded to Tealive. This has been (and still is) one of the hottest news recently and I am sure you know – or at least heard about it.
Regardless, what’s happened has happened and I have a few friends who were saddened by the outcome, mainly because they have been a loyal customer of Chatime Malaysia and they seem to share an emotional bond between themselves and the brand. Not me though, I have never been a fan nor hater of Chatime Malaysia, I just purchase a cup whenever I feel like having bubble milk tea.

I used to buy Chatime’s drinks from Caltex Sri Damansara, which has a small kiosk inside the petrol station. This petrol station is my favorite stop to reload my Touch ‘n Go card since it’s on my way home and they don’t charge any fee for reloading.
I was at the station earlier today and seeing Tealive reminded me of the brand transformation. So I bought a cup of Tealive’s milk tea just to see how much has changed, out of curiosity. It tasted pretty much the same to me. The milk tea is still smooth and aromatic, and the pearls are still nice to chew.

If you need a reason to try Tealive, you will be pleased to know that they are having a BUY 1 FREE 1 offer which is valid until 22nd Feb 2017, redeemable between 1pm and 6pm only. I like the tagline “Cha has passed its time” – nice rebuttal.

Tealive’s menu is as extensive as Chatime Malaysia’s previously, but some people mentioned the prices have increased. However, it felt the same to me, as the Original Pearl Milk Tea is still RM6.50 for a regular cup.
Customization is still allowed and you can specify your drinks’ sweetness and opt for any additional toppings (between RM1.10 and RM3.50) that goes into it. The handmade pearls and Kapitea Ice Cream are available at selected stores only though, eg. Pavilion KL.
One of the frequently asked questions is that whether the Thirstea Card Members can still enjoy the benefits. The answer is yes.
The same goes for any existing Chatime vouchers that were bought previously. As long as they have not expired you can still use them to purchase your favorite drinks.
