If you like penyet dishes as much as we do, I think you’d enjoy Waroeng Iga like we did.
We have been to many ayam penyet restaurants in town but this was actually the first time we ordered beef instead of the usual chicken and fish. And boy was the Iga Penyet (RM19.90) delicious. The ribs certainly looked tough and somewhat uninviting but they were actually tender and much more flavourful too. They certainly are what they call themselves – ribs penyet specialist.
Moving forward, I think we will see ourselves having the beef penyet more often. The sambal at Waroeng Iga was moderately spicy, but not so much till it’d numb your the tongue like Dapur Penyet’s. If you have the appetite for it, the terung penyet is worth ordering as well. The brinjal’s texture was perfect – it was moist at the center while the outer layer stayed nice and crispy throughout the meal.
