If you are an avid traveler like me and book hotels all the time, HotelQuickly is a name that you should know. It’s a mobile application that lets you find and take advantage of hotel deals in Asia Pacific. Since hotels always look to fill their vacant rooms, they are willing to drop prices at the last minute to attract more bookings. This is where HotelQuickly comes in to bridge the gap and translates to savings for guests.
Previously, HotelQuickly was intended for last-minute booking and hotel reservations could only be made two days before the check-in date. But in response to users’ feedback, they have recently decided to extend the booking timeframe to seven days. Now you can plan your trips better and more efficiently!
The range of hotels you can book through HotelQuickly is extensive – luxury, mid-range and standard. However, if savings or location matters more to you, you are also able to filter the available options via “Top 10 Deals” or browse using the interactive map.
Alright, enough about the introduction, you can probably Google them up anyway. Lets see how it helped me. So, my parents from Penang decided to drop by KL for a quick weekend visit and asked me to book a hotel for them because they are not familiar with the city.
Their criteria were simple: clean, near to malls and public transport for convenience and food. After doing my research, Grand Millennium was chosen because of its great review and location in the heart of Bukit Bintang.
Usually I use Agoda for hotel bookings but after comparing the prices with HotelQuickly, the latter is cheaper so it’s no brainer to use it. But to confirm I got the best deal available, I also checked with the other OTAs (online travel agents) like Booking.com and HotelsCombined.com. Now lets take a look at what I was quoted at other OTAs.
Agoda: RM459 (not inclusive service charge & tax), HotelsCombined: shows RM380 for Otel.com, but actual charge is RM480 nett, Booking.com: RM410.55 (without breakfast) and RM478.55 (with breakfast) – both prices do not include service charge & tax, Grand Millennium’s official site: RM557.34, and TripHobo: USD107.59 (~RM458.70).
The result is still the same: HotelQuickly is still cheaper, in fact by a substantial amount. HotelQuickly’s price for a Deluxe room with breakfast included costs RM394.73 inclusive of GST and service charge. That is at least RM60 cheaper than the other OTAs!
By default the app charges to your Paypal account. But for those without a Paypal account, of course credit card payments (American Express, MasterCard & VISA) are available – just add your card details under your account. Other payment methods supported include Discover and LINEPay. After that, simply swipe right to pay and wait for the confirmation message, which will also arrive in your email within seconds.
The entire process was easy, smooth and done in less than 5 minutes. Do note though, that even if you have sufficient credits (earned sharing your promo code) to cover the fees, you still have to pay a minimum charge of USD15 (~RM64) – BUT! this applies only if you’re booking for the first time.
Although we paid for a normal Deluxe Room, were were upgraded to the Grand Deluxe Room which comes with extra complimentary items. I was told by the reception that the upgrade was a courtesy by HotelQuickly as a surprise. Maybe because I booked during my birthday month, or we were just lucky.
And for those who believe in sharing, there’s more reasons for you to use HotelQuickly. After registering you will receive a unique invite code to share with your friends and family to use. If you’re wondering why they would even want to your invite code, that’s because they will receive RM40 worth of credits in their accounts that can be used in their next booking.
As for yourself, you will earn RM3 for each invite code activated, PLUS an additional RM40 when a booking has been made by your invitees – that’s how you can score unlimited free nights with HotelQuickly. It’s a win-win scenario for everyone! So get the app on the App Store or Google Play and start saving more on your next hotel booking!
