Thanks to GTower‘s management, I had the opportunity to experience the hospitality of G City Club Hotel at KL recently. The boutique hotel is the first Green Building in Malaysia and focuses on comfort and privacy especially to business travellers.
Because of that, GTower is dedicated to provide well-equipped facility and reliable connectivity to their hotel guests. Its location at Jalan Tun Razak is strategic and most importantly accessible by public transport, as the nearest LRT station – Ampang Park stop is well within walking distance.
The hotel room sports a modern yet cozy design and everything you need is provided for. The bed is super comfortable and remains the thing I missed the most during my stay period. I am not too sure about the mattress’ material but it was definitely not those spring types. So even if you or your partner moves a lot during sleep, there is minimal (may I even say none) movements that would be disturbing to anyone on the bed.
Bathroom is well equipped with toiletries and the shower was strong and has good hot water – easy to control too so no sudden hot or cold water shock here. The only complaint I had was the TV’s programme selections because the number of channels is quite limited. Plus, you need to pay to watch some of the latest movies, chargeable to your bill when checkout. Luckily I brought my own laptop so I could get online to pass some time. It is a good thing the Internet connection speed in the room is fast!
All hotel guests are entitled to a welcome drink (beer, red or white wine) and tapas at the Bridge Bar. You will receive these complimentary vouchers for each day stayed.
I honestly did not expect too much from the tapas but it was surprisingly good.
The Bridge Bar, just like the name says, is a hanging bar linking the GTowers’ buildings. Being at the center of Kuala Lumpur you could expect some really breathtaking views here while enjoying your drink.
See through glasses are placed at the sides of the bar to let guests see the ground below their feet from the 28th floor. Pretty exciting isn’t it?
A part of GTower’s effort in making the builiding a Green Building is through the use of recycled materials in its construction and design. One example would be the Bridge Bar’s wooden flooring and wall tiles, all sourced from old or demolished buildings.
Besides that they also implement sustainable technologies into their designs such as using energy efficient air-conditioning and centralized chilled water, rainwater harvesting system, toxic free building materials and etc.
The Bridge Bar is bright and cheeful by day.
But the mood changes quickly into warm and inviting during evening.
A few alfresco tables outside the Bridge Bar, backed with an unobstructed view of the city.
Some other views you could enjoy here. The view gets better as the night approaches.
I am not a wine or beer person but the selection of alcohol here should be more than enough. Cocktails are also available to order from their menu too.
If you are not a drinking person like me I am pretty sure you will enjoy the Elements Gym and sauna facilities here. The personal trainer here is very friendly and helpful and I must say I enjoyed the brief session of workout I had. They sure have all the latest machines here. I enjoyed my sauna session (no photo obviously) a lot too, made me feel relaxed and I had a very nice sleep that night.
And of course swimming pool is available here. The view at the pool side is quite impressive and you could actually see KLCC from here.
For dinner there is a fine dining Italian restaurant under GTower’s management called Tanzini at the 28th floor as well. I will talk about the food in detail in another post later.
Tanzini’s second floor is a breezy dining area for private functions, where you could have a even nicer view of KL’s skyline, largely thanks to the fully lit Petronas Twin Towers. A great spot for truly memorable photos.
But for those not looking to burn a hole in their wallet may proceed to the ground and lower ground floor of GTower where many other more affordable restaurants could be found eg: Rakuzen and Subway (opening soon)
The Club is an executive lounge where high speed internet access is available for guests’ use. Breakfast is also served here.
I feel the selection of breakfast could be much better, although it should be good enough for the normal business travelers.
Overall my stay at GTower Hotel was very pleasant, much due to the comfortable room and the nice albeit standard amenities a hotel should have. Compared to the other hotels I have stayed before previously, GTower Hotel might not be the trendiest or most luxurious. But the warm and personalized services rendered are no less impressive than any luxury class hotel in the city.
