On paper, the 4-star PNB Perdana Hotel & Suites On The Park seems like the perfect place to stay in the KLCC area. It’s inexpensive, within minutes of walking to Ampang Park LRT station and shopping malls and various eateries.
Food will never be a problem because there’s plenty of it nearby. Whether it’s mamak, cafe, fast food, normal or fine dining restaurants – this area has it all. Besides, Troika is just across the road and it houses a good cafe and some of the best restaurants in the city.
As you can tell from its name, PNB Perdana Hotel & Suites On The Park is a serviced apartment. It offers a range of family friendly ‘rooms’ from 1-bedroom suites to the exclusive 4-bedroom ‘Lifestyle Residence’ to suit your preference and needs. We stayed at one of the 1-bedroom suite at the Premier Floor over the last weekend for RM320, booked with HotelQuickly.

The layout of the suite we got on the 20th floor is long and it’s slightly larger than the size of a normal room. It is partitioned into a few sections: living room, bedroom and kitchen. The living room features a flat screen TV, a coffee table, a rather stiff sofa and a dining table that doubles up as a work as a work space. The entire suite feels clean and almost spotless, save for some mildew behind the toilet seat.
Wifi is provided and the signal is pretty good throughout the suite wherever you go; speed could be a lot faster but it serves the purpose. The number and vareity of channels available on the TV is sufficient (local and a few satellite TV channels like HBO and AXN) to keep you entertained and we certainly appreciated the clarity. In fact, it’s among the clearest among the many 4 to 5 star hotels we have stayed in so far.

The bedroom is compact and does not offer a lot of room for other activities besides sleeping. The mattress is not too hard and the pillows are not too soft – just the way we like it.
Needless to say, we had a comfortable and sound sleep that night. But for reasons unknown, a loud music played in the room the next morning around 10am. If you are concerned about that, better check it out with the staff on disabling it.

Here’s the kitchenette. Other than the cooking ingredients, it has almost everything you need to prepare a meal – especially if breakfast is not included.

Utentils, cutlery, plates, cups, pots, pans and even dishwashing liquid are also provided. You can easily fry an egg, pan-fry a steak, microwave a take-out or cook instant noodles here.

The bathroom’s design feels dated but the shower is what I really care about anyway. And I am glad to say that it’s great. That said, toothbrush and toothpaste are not provided by default so in case you didn’t bring any, you will have to request for them from the housekeeping.

If you are not too fussy about the cleaning accessories, facial cleanser and hair gel are probably the only items that you need to bring on your own. Anyway, that’s me speaking from a guy’s POV, not sure about the ladies though.

Overall the stay was a pleasant one and I would recommend PNB Perdana Hotel & Suites On The Park to anyone looking for a more homey experience. To be honest, we felt the suite was kind of unappealing at first because it’s not as modern and classy like the rest, but it does grow on you eventually. I do reckon, however, that this might not be the best property for younger couples.
The only disappointment I personally had was that I couldn’t get a view from the balcony because it was locked (for safety reasons?) Another minuscule issue that marred our stay was that one of the lift simply did not stop at our suite’s level, and our key card was not usable as well due to an earlier scheduled maintenance. So we ended up wasting a good half an hour moving up and down the building just to get into the suite.
