Shariff Nasi Kandar Istimewa

Because Nasi Kandar originates from [tag]Penang[/tag], it is no doubt the best ones are here too. This dish has managed to do very well in Penang with restaurants coming up at every corner. And that’s even with the tough competition among Pelita, Kayu, Kassim Mustafa and many others. Recently I have moved away from dining in these chain restaurants because of the expensive price. Shariff Nasi Kandar Istimewa in [tag]Gelugor[/tag] has got to be one of the cheapest [tag]nasi kandar[/tag] stall in the whole Penang island.
Kek Lok Si Temple Chinese New Year Celebration

These are some photos I took over the last weekend in Kek Lok Si Temple. The best time to visit [tag]Kek Lok Si[/tag] would be during [tag]Chinese New Year[/tag] where lanterns and lights are put up to decorate the landmark. The temple would continue to be brightly illuminated for the next 30 days following Chinese New Year. So you would still have about another week left to visit the temple if you haven’t. It’s definitely worth visiting because this is a once in a year event and the entrance is free. Click on the photos for a bigger size.
Mee Goreng @ Bangkok Lane

A while ago when I was talking to my lunchmates, they mentioned a mee goreng stall in Bangkok Lane that was featured in Ah Xian‘s eatery program. I didn’t watch it so I can only listen to their description. From what I heard, seems like the cook can fry the mee goreng in a very unique way. He can stir fry the noodles and spin the wok at the same time, somewhat like a performance. And even the [tag]mee goreng[/tag]‘s presentation looks promising.
Best Beef Soup Koay Teow in Penang

A coffee shop at the junction of [tag]Lebuh Chulia[/tag] and [tag]Lebuh Pantai[/tag] (Beach Street) sells kick ass beef soup koay teow. You can easily find the shop, it is situated directly opposite the fire station. And another thing is, it is run by a pretty young lady. This is quite rare in my opinion, as most beef soup koay teow stalls are run by men usually. The smallest bowl starts from RM7, which is one or two ringgit more expensive compared to the rest. But you won’t mind paying a bit extra for the best, right? I know I won’t.
