Awesome Roast Duck Rice @ Kedai Makanan Wing Heong, Seri Kembangan
Jul 15th
If you are visiting Seri Kembangan for the first time and I happen to be bringing you around for food, there are three places we have to go: Hoi Tong eat all you can BBQ and Steamboat restaurant, Yap Beng Dry Bak Kut Teh and Wing Heong Barbecue (siu lap) restaurant.
Wing Heong remains my favorite place to have roast duck rice. For me, their roast duck is fabulous and reasonably priced too. A lunch here costs in the range of RM3 to RM10 per person, depending on the amount of meat and the cut ordered.
Roast duck, the must try item here. Gotta love the flavor and juiciness present in the roast duck. Feel free to ask for more gravy or self service for it if they are busy. Wing Heong’s busiest time is none other than lunch time, which is from 11am to 2pm (closed on Tuesday). Sometimes they are still open at 5pm, provided there is still any meat left. Yoke Heng Special Claypot Lou Shu Fan @ Serdang Raya
Feb 12th
Few weeks ago, I went to try the famous Claypot Lou Shu Fan at Yoke Heng restaurant, Serdang Raya. Actually, I already knew the restaurant’s existence through an ex colleague about 3 years ago. At that time, claypot Lou Shu Fan was a topic we always talked about, especially during lunch time. Haha, can’t believe it took me so long to actually get to try it.
Unlike other claypot Lou Shu Fan which is usually very dry and dark in color, this has white-yellowish gravy instead. It is a very popular place for lunch among those working in TPM (Technology Park Malaysia) and Astro Bukit Jalil. But don’t worry, it opens at night as well because I had this for dinner.
Farmland Porridge Steamboat Restaurant @ Serdang
Sep 28th
For those who want to try something different in steamboat rather than using the usual clear broth or tomyam soup for the soup base, porridge steamboat might be a good alternative. It is not something new in Selangor/KL, but it was new for me from Penang. The first time I tried [tag]porridge steamboat[/tag] was a few years ago in Eastern Delight @ Sri Petaling and it was great! For this post, I didn’t go to Sri Petaling though, I went to Farmland Porridge Steamboat Restaurant in Serdang instead, which shares the same level of popularity with the former.
Farmland serves [tag]steamboat[/tag] sets and ala carte items can be ordered separately as add-ons. A two-person mixed set that comes with some seafood, vegetables, meat balls, dumplings and fish noodles cost RM27.80. The portion wasn’t too big but it should be enough to satisfy two average eaters.
Pan Mee @ Serdang Raya
Jul 30th
I have been using Serdang Raya‘s road whenever I go to KL. It is an alternative route to avoid any tolls, albeit the occasional jam. Along the road, there is a particular stretch with many used car dealers and workshops. A place like this would usually be quiet and deserted after working hours.
But, someone decided to set up a Pan Mee stall at the five foot way and managed to turn the place alive by night.
